Default Diesel engine

Now that the diesel engine is confirmed and set for production in the grand cherokee, whats the likleyhood it filters down to the wrangler? I love my 2012 JKUR but a diesel would have me at the dealer door waiting to order one. I know many others would be as well. Anybody have any inside info on this? Also is there any info out there on this Fiat diesel theyre using? Im concerned with reliability and longevity. I used to have a 2500 Cummins 4x4 and it is near impossible to kill one of those engines. I would be a little more skeptical on this Fiat diesel.

Probably not gonna happen, though I would love it if it did.

It is not a Fiat diesel, it is a VM Motori 3.0 Common Rail Diesel.

Sounds plausible. I have heard that the next generation of Wrangler is "scheduled" to be released in 2016.

being that model years release a year before the actual year I wouldn't be surprised to see the next generation of wrangler in 2016.

The demand for a diesel Wrangler is already here, they just haven't clued in yet. They didn't think there would be much of a demand for the Rubicon when it first came out...they didn't think there was a demand for a Jeep truck till they sold about 10 times as many JK8 conversion kits as they thought they would either. The diesel might just happen yet! The new EcoDiesel maybe?

U can do a diesel conversion for about $18,000, but who can afford/justify that?
