Default Door latch/striker

I've only had my Jeep a few months and had the door rattle and recently it got to the point where it's really irritating. It was really bad when I was out playing on some trails this weekend. Anyway I asked the dealer to look at it when they changed my oil today. My wife dropped it off this morning and they spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what it was. I had told my wife what I read here about the updated latch/strikers but she didn't mention it to them. I called her a little bit ago to see if they had found anything and she said they made some adjustments but did not replace the latch. She was told it was only for certain VIN's and that mine being a recent 08 already had the "new" latch setup. So...I guess even the "new" latch setups can and are having the rattle issue. We'll see if their adjustment fixed the problem or not, I guess they are going to send me something in the mail but maybe its just records of their warranty work.

I guess I shouldn't complain about my 08 driver's door requiring a bit more of a push to close completely than the other doors. . . .

Do yourself a favour and save yourself further aggreavation....go get some electrical tape.

Put two or three turns on all the doors and you will not hear a peep again!

Yucca Patrol - My one month old Sahara is in the dealers today for a driver's door being too hard to close. They say that the spacing around the door is way off and have ordered new hindges. They hope to bend/adjust the bottom half that stays on the frame, because the half that is bolted to the door is painted in and they don't want to break the paint. Major paint job if they mess with the exterior hindge half.
Parts should be in sometime tomorrow. Will give follow up as this unfolds.

After driving in to work today there is *some* improvement but i did still hear the the noise albeit much less frequently. I've done some short trips today and not heard it so I'll pay attention to it again on the drive home. What bugs me is whatever adjustment they made has made the door harder to close as well as it now seems to close inward more. As I look out my driver side mirror the line is not smooth going back...It looks like the pillar between the doors "humps out" now that the door closes more inward. It may be fine but it bugs the crap out of me since I see whenever I look in the mirror. I don't want to be a panzy and bring it back in...but at the same time I want it "right".

She's going back in...rattle is definitely NOT gone. It is only minutely better over small bumps but on rough road its as noticeable as ever.

Just keep a set of golf clubs in the back (never know when a golf outing may pop up) and you'll forget all about the little door rattle!

+1 on this. Takes 4" of electrical tape and 15 seconds to never have the clunk again.

The dealer over adjusted mine, had to slam the door to close it and it sunk in pretty far. Instead of waiting on them again I just fixed it myself. It took me 2 adjustments and almost 4 minutes. That was about 6 months ago and never heard a rattle since.
