Dumb question, but what is the correct way to use the factory jack?

Default Dumb question, but what is the correct way to use the factory jack?

I have been using the factory jack under the axles on the axle tube itself in no particular spot, or sometimes under the pumpkin(s). But I noticed the jack has a cut out in the center as though it would fit over or into something so I wondered if I was doing it right?

Under the axle close to the wheel you want to raise.

And just contacting (resting under) the axle tube, correct?

might be wrong about this, but i believe the jack in the jk is also the jack they supply with cars, and that notch in the jack goes in the "pinchrail" of a unibody car so it doesnt slide when jacking.

rinkishJK is correct. Our jacks are the same as the jacks that come in other Chrysler vehicles. They do this to save money. So they can spend more money perfecting our JKs LOL!!!

The correct use for that jack is to put it in the garbage. Its made so cheaply its for emergency use only.
Buy a real jack for any real purposes..

Agreed, but what to replace it with? Many stock JKs won't be touched by a hi-lift without damage. A floor jack is impracticable and usually not tall enough. Any suggestions?

(I personally am going to replace the stock Rubi sliders with frame mounted sliders & boat sides so I can use my hi-lift as I would like to try to keep my stock bumpers).

Personally, I think the stock jack is better than no jack. And it's normally only used for emergency purposes.

Correct. The stock jack may not be the best jack in the world, but it doesn't take much space and is efficient for raising one wheel. it's not tall enough to raise the tire off of the ground if you try lifting the body. Just put it under the axle tube close to the tire you want to lift. Note that if you have larger that stock tires, you might have to carry some 2X6 blocks to put under the jack to get enough height.
