Electronic Throttle Control Warning.
This is an old thread, but I want to share that I continued to have the ETC warning light come on just about every time I drove. Then last weekend, changed the spark plugs, and haven't seen it since. The weekend before I cleaned the throttle body, but it the ETC warning still came on (although less frequently). No idea if putting in new plugs could have any logical reason to resolve this, but it did. Or the combination of new plugs and wires and a clean throttle body.
I get that issue when my alarm trips for any reason and then I immediately turn the engine on. It seems that the alarm interrupts the battery and the ETC system does not engage as soon as the key did. If I turn off the engine and back on it will solve the issue.
Try turning the key slower, let it rest on ON then hit start. Slower i mean maybe 2 seconds not minutes anyway.

I've posted in another thread about my similar problem and what I thought was the fix but it can't hurt to watch this thread as well. This week, i've replaced the throttle body assembly, MOPAR PN 4861661AA and also the pedal, MOPAR PN 53032868AA. I still have the same codes, P0221 and P2135 in the computer. I'm looking for ideas or maybe a procedure that is needed after these are installed. I clear the codes and they come back after driving. I have not changed plugs in about 50K but i'm willing to try anything with a glimmer of hope.
I waited to be sure the Jeep dealer fix actually fixed the throttle control lights from coming on. I tried and couldn't figure it out on my own (even with the JK-Forum). The proposed fix by a Jeep dealer mechanic worked like a charm. The harness that travels under the intake manifold to the throttle body needed replaced (rewired). He cut it off before the intake and re-wired to the throttle body. This time the harness goes over the top of the manifold away from the direct heat. The wires or connections could have been damaged by the heat so close to the exhaust manifold. I believed a wiring problem was going to be the cause but wasn't sure where to start. He suggested the throttle body harness and it worked.
Periodically I get the TPS and Traction Control symbols flashing which causes the engine to hesitate and lack performance, but stays running (IE Limp Home).
The only time the I get these indicators flashing is when I have been driving around at elevations above 1500' and returning to lower elevations. The solution is always the same; turn engine off and then restart. The problem is gone and does not return unless I drive to a location above 1500'.

Hello friends I am Rodrigo from Chile my Jeep JK 2009 3.8L, sorry for interrupting i need to know the name and code of the wires and switch to connect to the Throttle Body, i coulds not find it, thanks
I think I got the solution. I've got an '08 unlimited with a 3.8 v-6. My check engine light would come on. The code indicated there was a fault in the cooling system. I noticed that my temp needle would fluctuate and when it pegged on cold the ETC light would come on and the fan would go into high gear.
I replaced my thermostat, no change. When I replaced my coolant temp sensor the problem was fixed. My needle went to the correct spot and stayed there.
It seems that when the sensor failed the needle would become unreliable. This sent a false signal to the computer. Apparently when Chrysler installed the sensors they were made of cheap plastic. The replacement I used was brass. Much better quality.
Knock on wood the gremlin is gone.

Hello everyone,
Needing some input on an issue I'm having with my ETC warning light. When I drive my jeep the ETC light doesn't come on until about 3-5mi into each trip and stays solid but, goes off each time I turn the jeep off. I am not experiencing any idling issues with the jeep nor is it running rough. It seems to be driving and handling as if there is nothing wrong. There are also no codes from the CPU. Now some background information. I recently replace my E-brake lever due to a spring failing in the lever. I adjusted the E-brake at the wheels after installing the lever because it seemed like it wasn't engaging with the proper amount of force on the lever when parking. The reason I bring this up is because the ETC light didn't start illuminating until I did this which seems really odd
. I would think the e-brake light or the traction control light would come on but neither do. Is it possible the e-brake needs to backed off a smidge to prevent the ETC light from coming on?
Could it possibly be a power distribution problem due to the e-brake? Any input is much appreciated thanks!
