engine idling at 2000 rpm?
I have an 08 and sometimes when I apply my clutch. And my jk is idling down when it gets down to 2000 it will stay their.
I can give it a little gas and it will drop down. Its only done it a few times. Have any of u with the manual have this happen to you?

How long does it hang at those RPMs? Sometimes when I'm on the gas and then pop the clutch quickly to do an emergency stop due to traffic ahead suddenly pulled up the motor will hang there for a second or two before dropping back down to idle; it's to do with the stupid computer-controlled fly-by-wire electronic throttle these JKs have.

I know this is the stock forum but just want to ask if your using any type of a programmer like superchips? I know this is different but I do repair work on caterpillar heavy equipment. Anytime we have an idle issue like this we either swap the throttle position sensor or we replace and flash a new ECM. Obviously those aren't an easy option but it what we always try first. Everything CAT makes is now fly by wire.

All jks are drive by wire, although I'm not sure about the crd model?
Mine (is an 07) and idle is about 750 in 2 wheel...900 in 4 low and hovers around 900 while rolling until I'm below about 2mph, then it drops down.
I would try in this order:
-clean the throttle body..and or,
-Disconnect the battery for over a half hour
-Check and it replace plugs and wires (read the plugs at the same time)
-then consider flashing via tuner or dealer
Just my .02...either way something is not right

It doesn't do it all the time. Only a hand full of times. And it normally idles at 700. But I can be driving for a while. And come to a red light. The jeep is already warmed up and I've been driving for 30 minutes or so. And I will go to slow down and push in my clutch and it will start idling down and get to 2000 and stop. I can give it a little gas and it will come on down.
I've been driving sticks since I first started and I cannot remember a car doing this to me. It acts like it catches and giving it a little gas will get it free.
