Default ESC problem

So I got in my jeep today, 2012 unlimited sport, and when I get over 30 mph my ESC light comes on and I lose throttle control and the jeep starts braking/downshifting. Just on clean dry roads no traction issues. Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

First off, learn about your "ESP off switch and its ******THREE****** modes." Second, your steering wheel is most likely off center. Google "Jeep JK front end alignment" and follow the easy procedure to fix. Third, if you've been off road, you may have bent your drag link or tie rod. Once bent, it bends easily again. You can just keep using you ESP Off switch (you did read up on it, didn't you?) and recentering the steering wheel, or you can replace your weak rod (I recommend the Synergy tie rod and drag link).

Steering wheels not off center and I haven't been off-road lately. I tried turning the ESC off right when it happened and it still did the exact same thing. But I just went and drove it again and it drove fine so I guess I'll see if it does it again.

Did you use the third mode, or did you just press the ESP Off switch once without holding it in for five seconds? There is a third mode that will stop that pulling to the side of the road. At least it has every time I've seen this problem (one bent drag link, one bent tie rod, two bad unit bearings, one damaged wheel sensor wiring).

Yes. That just puts it in that third mode permanently (unless turned off again by the steering wheel dance). Which means it isn't there later when maybe he needs it. Like when he's headed home with the wife and kiddos from a movie night and hits that patch of ice on the Interstate.
