Default evap canister???

Probably a really stupid question... can anyone explain exactly what the mysterious little black box does. It is obviously not in a real good spot for wheeling. I'm thinkin of buying the rockhard skid for it. What will happen if I don't and end up damaging it on a trail....something I should be concerned about or spend my $ elsewhere?

What ever you do don't let the gas cap go under water for any extended period of time, my jeep got stuck in water with the cap under and water got into the canister and ruined the little white sensor on the end. Long storie short do not let water in and relocate that thing!

While you're at it, also pick up the steering stabilizer relocation kit.

The thing takes any of the unburned gas vapors from the engine and re-uses them by sending it back into the engine with the normal gas so that the exhaust is cleaner. So if you rip it off, you'll get a check engine light and the engine will probably suffer a little, if at all. But it will not pass emissions test that way.

It's for emissions.

If you don't want to move it, RockHard has a skid plate available for it. Quick and easy install.

Relocatate it with a woods kit, its cheaper and better over all, it relocates it above the rear axle.
