"It is engineered to keep both wheels in a constant drive mode, and has the ability to automatically allow wheel speed differentiation when required."

So, maybe it's not locked all the time?

Anyway, my answer was applicable to the locker the op asked about.

So, let’s switch the topic away from doing doughnuts in a parking lot... Have many people had problems with the factory e-locker out on the trails or are they designed so that they hold up nicely over time?

yes. it was. but i have found the Detroit locker to be bullet proof in many situations. but i have to say, in a short wheel base jeep imma not so sure

If it is something that I try and do some time, I will have to be sure that I do take video. I guess that way, if I happen to snap something, or mess up the locker, you all can tell me: "I told ya so..."

I didn’t fully read your post until now. With the 6spd manual, I’m guess all I would need to do is get rolling and put it in 2nd, then turn the wheel and let'er rip. I am able to scratch 2nd and 3rd when taking off quick.

JP magazine had an article awhile back about the development of the current Rubicon. They said several lockers were tested (actually flogged) and the one that was finally selected was the strongest. They said the engineers tried hard to break it, and never did.

I'm pretty confident in these lockers, based on that story, not to mention that I have not had any problem with mine. Can't speak for larger wheels/tires, though.
