factory rake
A simple reason is so you can load the cargo area and not have the Jeep pointed up into the air, which is worse than being pointed down when not loaded.
A more complicated reason is for slight improvements in aerodynamics. (Drag, airflow through the radiator, etc.)
Lots of people have leveled their JKs and have not seen any real drawbacks.

I was told by the dealer it was so the Front Brakes take most of the stopping load...not sure if thats a load of BS. I did put the Teraflex leveling kit on and now think the jeeps looks like it's suppose to!

I cannot stand the rake. The first thing I do when I purchase a new JK is put a lift on it to get rid of the nose down look. Others think it is fine, and that is what makes the world go round. I think people should do what they like with their Jeeps and not be intimidated to do something that they will not be happy with.
It's super obvious on an Unlimited and I hate it. And for that reason I put in 1" spacers in the front within 2 weeks of buying it. No decrease in mileage or anything else. It does squeak once in a while at full lock when they shift a bit(I assume).
