Default factory seat problems?

Anybody else had problems with the factory seats falling apart? I have a 2 door X with the vinyl base model seats. They side padding started coming out of them a month after I got it. The dealership wouldn't fix them.

Can you send me a picture of what you are talking about. I might be able to help you out.

I've had problems, but of a different sort.

I've got the cloth seats, with that stain guard and airbags... but the height adjuster won't stay up... always sinking down.

I'm guessing you aren't having the height adjuster issue? (or is that also an issue with your seats)

I have an X with vinyl seating and haven't had any problems with them coming apart. The JK has ~24,ooo miles and the seats look like new. I'd really press the dealer or find another one.

I did have a problem with the back seat though...

We keep the back seat in the taxedermy room. I guess a mouse crawled inside and the dogs took the seat apart trying to get it.

I'm curious...

What was the dealer's reason for not replacing them under warranty??

Yah, really! This totally sounds like valid warranty claim, unless there are some details missing here in regards to the cause.

I was told that this is "normal". Jeep will not authorize the dealer to replace the seat frame. However, if you have a 2007 thru 2009, the height adjuster handle is a very weak design. They routinely strip. However, there is a new replacement version of the handle that is far more stout. This IS covered.

Well, that part is my own fault. I had some transfer case linkage problems early on. I had it in the dealership for that and asked about the seat, but didn't get much cooperation. I didn't press the subject becaue I was already a little cranky about how they handled the transfer case. Now my bumper to bumper has just ran out. I took it back up there and they said that they would not fix normal wear and tear items, especially since my bumper to bumper warranty has ran out.

Default No problems at all with my seats

but if I do develop them I will document a warranty claim during the warranty period, not after it expired.
