My 08 had vinyl seats and the fronts were replaced under warrenty as the vinyl was cracking. Dealer had no problem submitting the claim. But I am fortunate and deal with a great dealership.
don't have the 08 any more and no pics but dealer should take care of it. call chrysler and get the area rep involved and you will probably get some satisfaction.

 

I spoke to my dealership again this week. They said that since the Jeep is lifted, it puts extra stress on the sides of the seat when I get in and out. Because this was caused by modifying the vehicle, they see it as cause not to fix it.
