Question Freedom Top Panels...

I was wondering if anyone's had experience driving with the top off and the front freedom top panels in the back? Do they blow around much? I'd like to take them with me, but fear them blowing out of the back on the freeway.

Any suggestions?

I have driven with mine back there, unless you are doing 200 MPH I don't think they'll blow out.

They will bang together so bring a blanket or something to put between them.

That's all I do now (because I am lazy) - I just put them carefully on the floor in the back seat area (4DR) and throw a shirt between them. I wouldn't leave them there if I was off road but for normal driving I haven't had a problem.

I bought the freedom top storage bag from Jeep. There is a seperate compartment for each top so they can't touch the other. It then secures to the rear seat.Expensive but worth it.

Thanks - I was nervous to try - last thing I want is a panel flying out on the freeway! Usually I keep it around 75-80.

No they won't fly out unless you have a HEMI Also, you might want to consider a (super cheap) piece of foam to put in between them.

I would make sure they are flat wit something to cover them. FYI it does not take much wind force to lift something with that surface area out of the back though they are heavy.

I was moving a 250lb desk in the back of my S10 and figured it was heavy enough not to have to strap down. WRONG! At 55mph the wind over the cab lifted it out of the back of my truck and it disintegrated on the road when it landed. Must have gotten about 20 feet into the air. No bueno.

I used to throw mine in the back and they scratch real easy. They also developed a problem where the seals cracked on the side and they began to hold water. Took the shop forever to figure out where the water was coming from inside my jeep. Eventually they just replaced my tops.
