I'm getting 19 to 20 when going fwy. and city. When I just to fwy at 65mph with the cruise control on I can get a consistant 23.5 mpg. Love it! I'm wondering if when i go get the tsb flash will my milage go bad. Hope not.

Jeeps are not built for gas mileage, and never have been............They are tall, square, heavy, bulky boxes with horrible aerodynamics...big tires....etc.....
Its really a common sense deal.

I just don't see how its possible for people to get 21+ miles a gallon.........even with the tiny stock tires.

While running stock Sahara's 255-70/18 I could only get 17+ and that was babying the hell of it...........not getting on it at all.

I'm not complaining though............my TJ was horrible. I went from 32's(15mgg) to 35's(10.5) back down to 33's (14mpg)

yeah, gears would help you out quite a bit.

We just took a trip from my home in Colorado Springs to Southern California for a wedding. We left CO in an 'o1 Expedition with 5.4 getting 16-17mpg. On the way back, we bought a new '08 4 door X (S, tow package, 255r75x17 tires, manual) in St. George UT. I got 21.9 mpg from St. George to Colorado! In between the hills I put the cruise control at 75 mph. There are quite a few mountain hills on this trip.
Funny thing is that my Jeep developed a severe pull to the right when I was passing the Moab exit...

I live at 7000 feet above sea level and got the 6 speed afraid that the auto would suck too much power and gas (my CJ's turbo 400 does).

So far I'm happy.

By the way, SoCal dealers are adding $3,500 to $10,000 dealer markup and aren't budging!!! And, they don't publish the markup on their websites. Christy Lea at Sun Country Jeep in St. George treated me very fairly - no bull. She's even drop shipping my hard top to me since she didn't have one on the lot.

I have had my 08 JK X 4-door for 1 week now. The AVG MPG says 17.9, I filled the tank to see for sure, still have a 1/4 tank...
It is better than my 2000 Grand Cherokee though....even with the I-6

Are you relying on the JK's computer or are your numbers hand calculated? I find that in my '07, the computer may say 17.0, but in actuality it is about 16 mpg.

Yea... Doesn't anybody watch mythbusters??? They tried a fuel mileage test with the car's computer.... and realized it's not accurate at all, so they did it the old fashioned way....

Since I am still on my first tank of gas, I can only go by the computer. I should have some "real" figures tomorrow.
