Has anyone figured out a way to removal and reinstall the rear window on the hard-tops? I'd like to be able to pop out the rear window to get a nice breeze flowing through. I took a quick look, and it doesn't look like it'd be a clean removal - what with the break light and wiper, etc.. - but maybe with some quick disconnects installed, it could possibly work.

Just curious if anyone's given it a go.

I've taken the rear window out before. The defrost wires snap on and off, the struts have clips that you pull to unlock the connection, there is a small wire harness, and 4 bolts to remove the hinges. Not too difficult, but not something I would do very often either.

 

I thought about doing that also so the dog has a breeze. But it looks like a process. i did it on a explorer I had a few years ago and it took about 15 minutes to do. Like he said, i wouldnt wwant to do that a lot.

Other than that I can't think of an easy way. Then there is the reinstalling it...........

 

Why not just leave the window open? Seems like it would save time and headache.

It takes some work to get the rear window off. I've done it once. When I shattered it...

 

The top is removable, isn't that why you bought a Jeep.

Do what I'm gonna do. Leave the front top panels on, take the back top off and put in a deck cover and a windjammer if needed. Can't wait to finally get it.

 

well that's no help!...except for the brick idea.

well, good to know it's do-able, but yeah, prolly not an everyday thing....unless someone thinks up some quick release add-ons. (hint)

So I've thought about just open the back window, but didn't know if that was safe - I figured in Pittsburgh, one good Spring-time pothole and BOOM it would shatter. Any risks of leaving it open like that?
