Default Headed to Kodiak.

I got orders to Kodiak. Been in warm weather climates with all of my vehicles. What should I look into getting for the Jeep to be ready for winter? I have been stationed in Dutch Harbor before just never had a vehicle.

Jeep fully loaded Sahara but other than that it is pretty much stock.

in be looking into clothes, and really big guns lol. a lot of wild life that will kill there, and that FL sun.... well you better soak it up while you can lol.

but to answer your question, id be looking into a good set of tires (probably 33s since your still stock), bumper/winch combo, recovery gear, and maybe a block & transmission heater for when it gets freakishly cold. others may have better suggestions that live in colder states, me being from Miami and living in GA I know nothing compared to some of the members from AK & Canada.

Good winter rated tires with lots of siping for ice, block heater, winter windshield fluid, blanket, first aid kit, ice scraper, shovel.

I know it was said in jest, but you can't just drive through Canada with a gun. They have very strict laws, especially for certain types of guns. It takes a special permit, and getting one requires justification of the need for that gun. Then there are further strict laws on how it is transported and stored.

My son was stationed in Fairbanks and put block heaters on both of their vehicles. He purchased and had installed in Fairbanks and it was much cheaper than the quotes he got in the lower 48. Mark is correct about guns in Canada, they don't play when it comes to guns. I know my son and family took a ferry type boat from Seattle to AK then drove to Fairbanks to avoid those issues I'm Canada.

obviously crossing into another country with a firearm is a no no, I would buy them once in Alaska. fire arms are fairly cheaper there then in the lower 48. plus if you have the right stuff you can barter with items we take for granted here in the lower 48 that is like gold in Alaska

In Kodiak I'd be more concerned about the wet weather than the cold...lots of rain. The average high temperature there is 46 and the average low is 34. But they get over 75 inches of rain per year. Make sure your top is leak-free and maybe get a cover for the Jeep if you have to leave it outdoors for long periods.
