I just realized I have a small leak on top of the waterpump.. Looking at the picks would it be better to replace the gasket or the complete pump.. 42k miles in the jk. I searched but nothing came out.. I dont have any overheating or sounds.. What shoupd I do?

If the pump isn't expensive and it's in the budget i would replace it. That's just me though.

Replace the pump with new gasket, they are cheap and easy to do.

Great.. I might end up doing it at the dealer if the price is right because im in finals at school and I need the jeep ready for jeep beach next weekend... Ypu guys think with a gallon of coolant I can do the trip and then replace the pump when I have some free time??

Depends on the amount of the leak. If it is small you may not need to add any, but having some on hand with you is a good idea since you know there is an issue. I'd clean the area really well and monitor it for a day or so before making a final decision though.

Thanks toolow. Thats what I did I just cleaned that area today so ill monitor the leak for the next two days and go from there

Best thing to do, it could save you money in the long haul, oh and by the way I'll have to get up with you sometime to find some good spots to ride. I will be transferring to Key West this fall/winter.

If your gonna take it off to replace the gasket might as well replace the whole thing not to expensive and better than it going out at an inopportune time. Check your idler pullley while the belt is off...
