Insurance questions about flooded jeep
Ok soooo I kind took on water crossing that was a touch deeper than I thought. The engine died and I had to get towed out.
At this point I didn't realize I would be covered by insurance so I towed it home and changed all of my fluids. I did a complete detail incuding enginge and interior. I even removed the dash to get out any extra water
at this point I no one would ever know it was under water which was the goal as I planned on driving I forever.
Well about 100 miles later the transmission overheated, now it's toast
insurance is offering a used transmission that has 11,000 miles (my 08 4 door has jus under 20,000.
I'm not UNhappy with that but now I'm going to have flood damage on my car fax ruin my resale.
I'm also a bit concerned about long term effects as water was over the dc outlets
should I take the offer? Do I have any other options?

Besides footing the bill yourself, I don't see any options other than fraud which if caught would be far far worse than flood damage on a carfax report.
Don't sweat it, the used transmission sounds alright..... we all make a mistake in judgement now and again.

Take it from an insurance adjuster ( I am one)
You just wasted a bunch of your personal time cleaning out you Jeep.
Fortunately, insurance covers stupidity. Unless you went into the water on PURPOSE with intent to damage your vehicle, or you were using your Jeep in a competition your insurance WILL pay for the repairs and cleaning of the Jeep.
As for the USED transmission, the only other option would be a reconditioned transmission...which...yep, you guessed it. Was USED at one point, you are never going to get a brand new transmission unless you steal it off the assembly line or go aftermarket.
As for carfax, sadly most people including you are misinformed about carfax. Your insurance company does NOT report to car fax. They report to other agencies such as ISO and that is mainly for their records to prevent fraud. The only time something is reported to CARFAX is when the police are involved.
Good luck, let me know if you have anymore questions.

I was wondering if there was such thing as settling for lost value? Clearly I was totally at fault and don't want to be a whiner but...
Clearly I can never ethically sell this vehicle without disclosing the damage. Now my 21,000$ is worth 80%- of that. ? In all reality if there is no such coverage i would have better off with a complete total, add to that my lifetime powertrain warranty is completly void

You will have a lifetime parts and labor warranty on the replacement motor from your insurance company-make sure that LKQ vendor that your insurance uses included a lifetime warranty on the parts and labor-better than the MOPAR warranty IMHO.
Hate to sound like a jerk, but its your fault. Dont be mad at the insurance company that YOU drove through water and damaged your own vehicle.
ETA. What evidence are you using to suggest that your vehicle is only with 80% of its original value? I've never heard of someone receiving less money because their vehicle was in a wreck. DV claims are VERY hard to prove. Unless you are trading the vehicle in and the dealership puts it in writing that they are offering you less because your car was in a wreck then you may have a case....I've been an estimator for 5 years and have yet to see a DV claim ever paid out with the exception of a BRAND NEW vehicle that had not been sold yet was hit by our insured-legally the dealership could not sell the vehicle as brand new anymore and they presented a DV claim that was paid out.

I too am a claims adjuster, albeit independent and deal mostly with property claims. Auto claims are usually settled on ACV - and you may be getting a good deal with a 11K tranny vs your 20K tranny.
I would get a quote for the cleaning job you did, and try to have the adjuster consider it. Company ows it regardles if you or a shop did it.
Diminish value considerations are liability issues, not applicable in first party claims...

Actually I was trying to be a bit ironic there, I first found this forum looking for the next step after I flooded. Guys on here helped me get everything working again and to find all the little places I needed to worry about water.
As far as doing it again...
