Ok so my JK did this tonight when I pushed the unlock button on the key the horn blasted, wipers front and back turned on and the windshield washers were spraying like mad. I wrestled the neg cable off the battery waited for about a minute and reconnected and all has been fine so far.

I understand a bad battery could cause this and a tmpi also but does anyone have any more info as to what it truly is? I hope its just a battery since I hate bringing my JK to the dealer for anything. Thanks!

when i owned my Patriot it did something similar. While i was driving the wipers came on, the radio started flipping through stations, the wipers went off by themselves and then the vehicle just shut off on its on in the middle of the road. I was able to get it turned on right away and took it to the dealer, of course it was fine when i took it but a week later it did it again. Luckily for me the service dept annotated on my service recorded what happened and took a better look into it the second time. Turned out to be the battery.

My JK does this every time my wife gets behind the steering wheel. Not sure how it got access to her driving record but it appears to know when it is in serious trouble.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to get a new battery today and see how that goes. The battery is 4 years old now even though the jeep is 3 and it been killer hot here for a good few weeks now (mid 90's and humid) and I understand the heat can kill the battery just like the -10 degree winters we get here. Hopefully that will take care of the demons if not at least I got a new battery which is near the end of its useful life anyways.

So I went to go get a new battery and the OEM checked out just fine on the load and voltage test. I guess now I'll look for any obvious signs of loose grounds and go from there. Still open to suggestions if you have experienced this before.

Actually it should be TIPM and it stands for Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM)
