Quote: I have seen an option that might help you.... In the back of police magazines, where they try to sell ad space and all that other stuff.... I have seen a product designed for the guys in the southern areas like Florida to keep cool. It looks almost like a vacuum cleaner hose that has a universal attachment that connects to your heater/ac vent. You can then Connect the other end of the vent into your vest or right into the back seat. You could even hold it to your face if you want. I'll try to find the name and some pics. Hope this helped a little.
The product is called Cool Cop. I saw a story run on the nightly news a few months back and decided to make my own. You can buy the parts from Lowes for about 20.00. I have not installed mine yet but I have all the parts assembled. The hose would route up the roll bar and attach with zip ties. the rubber cup that covers the air vent also attaches with zip ties.

Do you think we could attach that to the floor vent?

If you run the hard top all the time you might consider a small (7100 btu) RV roof top unit. I've seen vans running these. Probably freeze everyone to death!

x2. It really does get freakin hot back there.. How hard could it have been for Jeep to have some factory vents in the rear?

After this summer I was convinced that a white jeep with a white hardtop was in my future. Myth busters says white vehicle is good for a 10* drop over a black vehicle.

Being in LE myself I talked to a state trooper the other day. He had this set up on his CV. Neat simple idea but it really is made to direct air into your shirt and vest area. Trust me on a 90 to 100 degree day you roast beyond sweat with all your gear on and just a cool break with this device is very pleasant.

But I do not see this fixing the rear air issue from the OP.

I just bounce the ac air off the top once we get moving. Of course the top is roasting if your sitting still or just got inside your jeep sitting in a parking lot.

Tinted my back seat windows and freedom top windows at 5% made a big difference in cooling.
