Angry Locked Keys in Jeep? Or lost key? Help!

So, my wife came home the other day in the Jeep and the next morning we can't find the key anywhere. At this point, we're not sure if it's possibly IN the Jeep still (she unloaded some bags from the back seat when she came home) or if maybe they were somehow thrown away, mixed in with her parent's stuff (they've gone back home now) or just vanished into this air.

So my question is: I see the red alarm light flashing. If she had locked the doors using the switch on the door panel, and not the key remote, would that also turn on the alarm light? It seems like I remember that it does, but I wanted to make sure before I bother calling roadside assistence to come unlock it if there's no way that the key could still be in it.

And no, we don't have a 2nd set of keys. We know how those were lost. And yes, it's a hard top so I can't just unzip a window.

If you definitely can't find it then see if you have this company called E-KEYS in your area. They can cut and code your key right in the drive way.

Yes even if she locked the door from the door panel it will still set off the alarm.

U can get a door key cut from the dealer using ur vin. It will not run the truck because it has no chip... It would let u unlock the door though...

I called them. They wanted $180 for the key (using the VIN), but then I needed to bring in the Jeep with the key to have it programmed, meaning I'd have to have it towed to them. Oh, and they aren't open on Sunday, so it would be tomorrow.

I found a few places here in Dallas that will come to me, make the key, and program it for about $160. If the keys are actually in it (and not lost) then now I have an extra at least.

Go online and find out how to jimmy your door locks. I'm sure it'll be cheaper

No, but have you looked through the windows to see if she actually did lock them in there? If you have and can't find them maybe they're somewhere else.. But I'd suggest you get a key-finder after you fix this since it seems like to me you all have made a habit of misplacing your keys.

Is it an aftermarket alarm? I don't recall having an alarm light. If it's the OE alarm, the doors shouldn't lock themselves unless you hit the button on the remote.

As far as getting the key cut at the dealer, they probably just want to make sure they aren't giving a key to someone that copied the VIN from the dashboard. I'd go in with the title, registration and your Driver's License and see if they will cut it. If they won't then I'd try another dealer.

disconnect the battery as to not set off the alarm and jimmy the door. than search around the interior for a bit.

I lost mine just the other day when i unloaded the back seat. I had no doors and no roof and could not for the life of me find the keys. Luckily my girl friend was there and spotted them hanging out behind all the wire under my passenger seat.

Well, the keys were not in the Jeep. The locksmith came out and got the car unlocked first so that I could look and see if they might be there. Sadly, no luck.

So I ended up paying for them to make a key. Sadly, it doesn't have the keyless entry buttons, so I can't turn the alarm on and off with it. In fact, I need to find out if I can just disable the alarm completely, because if I lock the door using the power lock switch, it turns on the alarm when I close the door. Or I at least need to disable the Jeep automatically unlocking ALL the doors when I open the driver's door.

I'll eventually get another factory key with the remote, and this one will become the "spare" key.
