You use a light and a mirror, and look at the back of the block, just below the head.
If you are ever in the Bangor area, let me know, and we'll find the engine number.

Yes, the mirror and little light does the trick,,,,however, I have looked and looked, and I have is my last 8 VIN digits. My mirror is telecopic and I've been all around the area behind the block were I found the VIN stamp....NO MOTOR CODE.

On a positive note I can find the spot were the stamped the number in seconds

Were else could it be? Did they forget to stamp my motor number?

Like most here I'd really like to know. Wonder if a build sheet would tell me if I could score one.

Did you clean the entire area where you found the VIN on the block?

I had to clean with rag and solvent, several times, before it was readable.

On mine, there was a little separation between the two strings of numbers.

I did clean it with just a wet rag, good call on the solvent...I'm going to give that a try bit a break cleaner on a rag should do, maybe the stamp is full dirt.
Also, see if there's a seperation.

Is it possible they didn't stamp this part? I'll let you know if I find it, thanks once again.
