Gee.. I can't figure out why Jeep has such low quality ratings?? Thanks Chrysler, glad we bailed your asses out!

For anyone's info I have a 07/07 built "08'" wrangler and don't have oil consumption problems. It does burn oil but about 1 - 1 1/2 quarts of Mobil 5W-20 over about 5,000 miles.

Doesn't that mean it IS burning oil then? Mine is halfway in the safe line at about 3k since the last oil change, does that mean I'm burning oil?

All engines burn some oil, your doing good. The people with the oil consumption problems are burning oil at about 1 quart every 500 to 1000 miles.

Also where was your oil level to begin with at your last oil change? Full or half on the "safe" line?

On a side note I have seen a huge difference in oil level when the enging is hot or cold (obvious and expected) and even a 1/2 quart difference from a "cold " engine on a 70 degree day and a "cold" engine the same day/night at 45 degrees. My JK was never driven that day just the ambient temp changed and I noticed quite a difference in oil level.

They are made right here in Michigan. As is the new Penstar.....

All you haters can go piss off....

BTW...on an off road vehicle sometimes it is more accurate to monitor engine hours rather than miles traveled.

5000 miles off road could be twice the engine hours of a vehicle operated on-road.

I could not find any evidence the Wrangler 3.8L engine is made in Mexico.

This is on my window sticker:

Chrysler Opens $570M Plant In Mexico
The new $570 million plant will employ 700 people and produce the company's Pentastar V-6 engine for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and later for the Town and Country 300 and 200, the Dodge Charger, Avenger, Durango and Journey.

The plant will have a production capacity of about 400,000 units per year.
Looks like the Pentastar won't be made here (read the comments): link.

... and here's some informative reading regarding our Michigan built 20 year old 3.8: link.
