Mirror water leak fixed without a drill?
I just got my first Jeep 3 weeks ago. I love everything about my JK... Yes there's a few minor issues I need to get worked out, but for the most part I couldn't be happier...
One thing that has bugged me is the leaking mirror. I can't complain about spending a great day cleaning my baby, but what I can complain about is seeing my Jeep that I just spent an entire day cleaning looking like I just took her out on a trail ( She was still a sexy beast though ).
I have seen the post about drilling a hole in my mirror, which is something Im trying to avoid ( Theres something about taking a drill to my baby that doesn't sit well in my stomach )
Today, I spent yet another day cleaning.. However, there are two bolts under the mirror. I originally thought the two bolts held the mirror to the "Arm" - I removed the bolts and tried to remove the mirror and had no luck.
I'm not a 100 percent sure, but seeing how these bolts don't appear to be whats holding the mirror to the "Arm" the only thing I can think of that they are, are drain's for the mirror...????
It doesn't really make sense I guess that Jeep would do this rather than seal the mirror, but after removing then washing, then driving ( which normally would have left both doors a mess ) There is not ONE water spot on either door.

I foud that if you remove youre mirror assembly from the door you will find a piece off gray fome that blocks the drain hole that has been put thair by the factory. All you have to do is cut a small V shape notch into the foam and that will solve youre problem at least it did for me.

*L* the sideviews get full of water after a good dousing from rain or washing it. Reference this thread by Rubimon: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/drilled-side-view-mirrors-1291/ all the answers are therin.
If your inside mirror is full of water, you have larger issues to deal with.
If that works for ya that is cool. I opted to drill two holes once, instead of having to haul out the air compressor every time it rains.
I did it because whenever i washed the thing, it piddled water down the doors for a day or two, and it made me wonder how smart it was to leave a bunch of water sitting in there to help begin the corrosion process. with all the NE roadsalt, i just thought it was smarter to have a drain as opposed to a cistern. So in a way, i wasnt worried about a leak, i was actually creating one
