I use my Bully Dog to monitor the tranny temp and in Summer it normally hits 190 to 200 during traffic jams without activating any alarms. Of course, it is relying on the Jeep's temp sensor and the computer to display the measured temperature. But it has been quite consistent.
Nonetheless, the Summer temperatures in Seattle are very mild. I imagine this would be quite higher in the South.

I monitor what the Jeeps computer says is the transmission sump temperature with an AeroForce, and also have a probe in the pan with a gauge on the a-pillar. The gauge and the AeroForce gauge consistently agree when I check one against the other.
