I've got a 2011 JKU running stock Goodyear Wrangler SR-As (255/75/R17).

I am looking at purchasing Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs.

I am NOT looking at getting new rims, going to stick with the stock rims for the time being.

What I need to know is this: I cannot find the Duratracs in P255/75/R17s. I have only been able to find them in 245/75/R17s and 265/70/R17s.

I am assuming I could run either of these on my stock rims but I wanted to double check first. I am new to all of this. I only ever did my own oil changes on other vehicles I have owned but I am getting tired of paying someone else for the labor when I have a good enough mind I can do most of the work myself (or have friends that can help). Figured I'd start with a Jeep to learn on.

If am not mistaking, the 265-70-17 should be close to the same size as the 255-75-17 that is on the vehicle. If any it should only change your speedometer by 1 mile.

Either size would fit OK. 245 is slightly narrower than stock and smaller diameter. 265 is slightly wider and closer to stock diameter although still a bit smaller.

Here is a list of tires that come in 255/75r15 if you want a tire that matches the stock size exactly. Some are great off-road tires, others not so much:

the stock 255/75R17 works out to be 32.05 x 10.03 inches
the 265/70R17 works out to be 31.60 x 10.43 inches
and the 245/70R17 works out to be 31.46 x 9.64 inches

the 265/70R17 is closer to the stock tire size thus making it the better choice IMO

The 265's are about 1% shorter and the 245's are about 2% shorter. There are a lot of good options in the 265 size since its a very popular truck tire size.

What's your reasoning for wanting the duratrac vs other tires?

I need a good all around tire for most every condition. 60-75% driving on pavement, the other 25-40% is off road.

I am looking for a tire to do it all, the daily running around and off-roading (for fun and to other family memebers homes, directions to my father's house include turn off of the paved road, turn off of that dirt rod, then yet again, turn off of that dirt road. Gets rougher/muddier as you go along).

I also need something that is good for the winter time as well.

Based on what I have read, the Duratracs seem to fit what I am looking, a good on road tire with even better traction/handling in adverse conditions or off road.
