It is NOT 68° outside anymore... I could barely touch the steering wheel at lunchtime, however when I start the jeep, the outside temp displays 68° (likely the temp outside when I started up this morning)

I figured it would catch up in a few seconds. I drove about 5 minutes with no change. I ran several errands, which compelled me to start and stop the engine half a dozen times or more.

According to Jeep, it's still 68° outside.

The sweat on the back of my neck disagrees.

The direction was updating, as was DTE and Gas Mileage.

Anyone else seen this?

quick call Al Gore its that global warming thing

i have seen that before on my old av but only when it was wet or just washed it. the sensor was in the front fender well and if it was wet out it would mess up the readings

Same here...

I sometimes get the reverse as well, like 108 after a sunny day in an asphalt parking lot.

After about 10-15 minutes of driving, the temp does seem to catch up with the "real" temperature.

FYI: The temp gauge in my wife's WJ seems to have more accurate readiings.

Maybe it really is 68 outside, but YOU have a fever. lol My old Blazer once told me it was 73 outside in 4" of snow. I figured it was just wishing it was in florida.

Chrysler Corp. has used this sensor for years, and it is not terribly accurate. It's good within 50 degrees, though!

Same problem here. Never seems to read right. It really bugs my wife. Me - not so much. I will ask at the dealer the next time I am by.

It finally made the jump to 93° on my way home, then crept up a degree.
I'm used to it always showing the last known temp at startup, just not sticking there for so long.

I wonder if there's an aftermarket replacement sens0r.

Jeep needs to sell a Wrangler thats just a body shell on a frame. Because its seems like almost everyone who buys a new Wrangler immeadiatly replaces darn near everything on it with after market parts and mods. And now a new temp sensor?

And I get the shit around here for complaining about the Wranglers faults? Maybe I need to change out every part with aftermarket non Jeep parts too, then I'll be "in love' with my Jeep like the rest?

Just alittle sarcastic humor.
