Looks like I can add myself to the oil sucking 3.8 list.

Only 33,000 miles.

My 09 wasn't burning a noticeable amount until my last oil change. I went from burning practically nothing to 1.5 quarts in 3500 miles.

Mine did that at 40k. I'm crossing my fingers. 500 miles on Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w 30 with no usage, so far.

X2.

I'm burning about 1 quart per 1k miles. I buy 2 5-quart jugs of oil for an oil change, use the initial 6 quarts, and then the leftover 4 quarts go to nursing it till the next oil change.

If you are still using 5W20, try switching to 5W30 or 10W30..

My condolences ... I feel like 30-40k is common mileage where it first noticed, but maybe not.

At 90k mine is now leaking, burning and knocking here and there.

Tough little motor ... figured it would have asploded by now.

Default my 2009 needed new rings

I have a 2009 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. January 2013, 55000 miles, I checked the oil and found that the oil level was down about 2 quarts! This was after only 1500 miles from the last oil change. The dealer inspected my jeep and said the rings were bad. The dealer replaced the rings at no cost to me under the unlimited powertrain warranty. Since then I have put about 3000 miles on my jeep and oil consumption is zero. Mileage has increased by about 2 miles per gallon.

Now I am dealing with P0300 and P0304 codes so back to the dealer.

5w30 didn't help much

10w30 and it barely consumes oil now
