Paint wear at door gasket - known problem?
I've had the paint wear down to bare metal where the door gasket brushes against the doorframe. Is this a known problem, and is there a fix, other than touch-up paint? Thanks.

Here's the wear on the left door sill.
Most cars have a scuff plate on the door sill, but the JK doesn't.
There are aftermarket scuff plates for the JK, but they're just attached with double-sided tape. I doubt those things stay on, with just a sticky-tape to paint bond. Earlier model Jeeps will take screw-mounted scuff plates, which ought to stay put.
Looks like a design error.

I have door sill plates the moment I got the jk cuz I knew that would happen, I have seen it on other jeeps. It's you gettin in and out of your jeep through time. Get a door sill plate.

understood now. yep. wear from entry/exit. i have the rugged ridge black powder coat entry guards. believe me, don't worry about the 3M tape holding them on. they are on for good. pick yourself up a pair of entry guards and call it good.

Thanks. With the key phrase is "entry guard" rather than "scuff plate", there are plenty of aftermarket parts for this problem.
It's the door gasket that's doing it, by the way. The wear is very consistent.

+1 That is definatley not normal. I would first follow this writeup and bedline the sills (I would do this instead of getting the plastic overlays since the paint has already started to rub off):

Then I would play with the body mounted plates where the pins on the door hinges slide into. Possibly move them up 1/4" or so, so that the door sits up a bit higher and doesnt rub the body when you close it.
