Default Parking Brake is worthless

Has anyone taken you JK to have the brake adjusted under warranty? I know that mine sucked from the get go... but parking on hills makes me more and more nervous each time. I cleaned out some surface dirt in there and hosed it down with brake cleaner. Still nothing... took it to the dealer and they said "Oil in the mud saturated the shoe and thats why it doesn't work... we can fix it for $270"

I said no and left it at that.

Has anyone gotten a decent parking brake adjustment under warranty or simply a trumped up bullshit excuse?

I just rolled over 4000 MI and mine won't hold on even a small bump! I might get under there and try to clean it out and if that doesn't work I'll take it to the dealer. - KY

You must've done one to many e-brake assisted drift turns.

Mine seems fine when i crank it all the way up. I never understood why people dont trust just putting the tranny in park? Unless you live in San Fran. then you have reason to worry about a bum parking brake.

Because this was in park on a 10* hill when it began to roll, jumped an embankment, and rolled. I have a picture of it in park and upside down. Thats why I dont trust it.

If that was in park, you had bigger issues than a non-holding parking brake. Sorry about your Jeep.

mine did the same as yours and being under warranty they didn't charge me anything of course and I can't believe the yahoos you're going to tried to charge you... Do you have any 5-star dealerships in your area? Mine is and I'm spoiled and will not go anywhere else at this point

It works better now but still doesn't hold like a vice-grip, wish it did.

I totally agree with you. My driveway is on a little incline, not much at all. Sometimes my husband comes in and says I know you didn't park your jeep like that. I look and see my jeep half way in the street that is with it in 1st gear
