Parking Brake is worthless
it just sucks (and i know many of you have had much more serious issues with your JK's) but why offer a warranty if you don't stand behind it?
Sorry to hear about your ebrake. Mine works pretty good although I've noticed it get a little loser in the engagement. Still, it held while I was on that steep embankment a few weeks back. I used the brake most of the time, but I let off when I was going to get out at one point.
1. Stop
2. Engage E-brake
3. Shift into park
When you do that it uses the brake as the main thing to hold the vehicle in place then if that doesn't work your tranny should hold it. - KY
By all means always use park but I've been told that it's better on your tranny in the long runto use the following steps:
1. Stop
2. Engage E-brake
3. Shift into park

It's how I was tought, and my 10 year old XJ tranny works without any problems.
Yeah, put me down on the worthless e-brake list. I can yank on that thing hard and it will still roll slowly on an incline. Fortunately it's pretty flat around these parts. I did have it roll away from me after I got out on a trail recently. As soon as it got to a level spot it stopped since the e-brake was at least (anemically) engaged. I don't trust the thing anymore.
