pentastar head problems?
Mine was in the shop for 9 days while they replaced the heads and belt tensioner that locked up while putting it back together. The dealer told me he had three grand cherokee's and a charger with same issue and even though they know the reflash does not work Chrysler makes them try that first. On top of insult to injury they gave me a red grand caravan as a rental and charged me a 45 dollar domestic fee for rental they could not cover. So after bitching they are giving me a free oil change to make up for it, blah. My jeep has never been off road( due to time not desire) and is completely stock when check engine came on at 15k. Very disappointed with chrysler at this point
dropped mine off today for the head replacement, unless it states in your contract about rentals you won't get one I've been down this road already with chrysler & lost which is why I MADE SURE I had rental allowance when I bought the JK just incase
I agree it does suck but you can't fight city hall

Chrysler should be the one in the first place to give you the rental that's what they did with me. Pm and I can give you the number for Chrysler. They always give me rentals now cause after they replaced my cylinder head it's been messing up.

QUOTE=Gort;3170985]I'd be curious, too, as to whether the majority of the problems seem to be with modified or stock vehicles. While reading the now-shut-down thread, that wasn't something that I was looking for and I'm too lazy right now to go back and read through all of the posts again.
Having said that, I've got over 1000 miles on mine and it sounds just fine (5/30/12 build). Mine is stock as far as the drivetrain and suspension goes, but I do like to get into it from time to time (without redlining it) and I run 87 octane unleaded w/10% methanol. I also downshift the hell out of it (love that new shifter for 12). Combination of city and highway driving.
Haven't had the chance to take it off road yet, although given the question about the head in the Pentastar, I may refrain from that until I reach a point where I'm confident that my engine does or does not have the issue -- the last thing that I want to do is have Chrysler tell me that off-roading my off road vehicle somehow voided the warranty.

How is yours messing up after they replaced the head their fixing to do the same to mine? Really hoping it works but I'm no professional mechanic but I'm not a newbie neither to me it seems like a temporary fix to a permanent problem is my gut right.
It still ticks they just got a new head and reused all the lifters and springs. It's lk an electrical problem. At least that's what they say. But have replaced everything electrical and another "new" software update. My dealership sucks. So you probably won't have the problems I have.
