Default Putting your Windshield Down

I have not done this yet, however after putting your windshield down has any one experienced issues such as leaks or wind noise? I watched a youtube video on it and the narrator explains that if you don't want leaks or scratches, not to do it.

The only reason I am thinking of putting it down is to trouble shoot a really annoying wind noise flutter coming right from where the windshield meets the jeep, wanted to see if everything looked alright with the seal.

Thanks,

Yeah the older jeeps are a lot easier, my CJ takes 2 seconds.

I figured I'd ask before taking the time to do, don't want to cause any issues when doing it.

When I first got my JK it looked as though only the glass itself folded down by the looks of that huge center hinge leaving the frame intact. Soon found out that was not the case. Does in fact look like too much work for an afternoon of wind in your face.

I think I will deal with the fluttering noise. Last thing I need to do is add a water leak to the mix. If anyone has put the windshield down keep me posted on the side effects you have experienced.

no side effects - I did it once when first bought the Jeep 3 years ago. IMO time is much better spent doing something else. Way too much work for a brief joy ride with the kids.

To fix your windshield noise -- I am presuming you have a soft-top -- using a pair of pliers or grips, slightly bend down the loops at the top of the windshield that the soft top secures to.....the ones behind the sun visors. This will make the soft-top pull down harder onto the windshield, and your noise will be reduced significantly.

I actually have a hard top with the freedom panels. The sound is coming from behind the dash almost near the winshield wiper. It only happens around 70 mph. I feel like a tool bent over my steering wheel on the highway trying to find out where it is coming from. Did you have any leaks or more wind noise after putting the windshield down?

I put the windshield down once on my old 08, what a pain and it took me hours to get everything lined up again after so that the hard top would latch right. don't think i'll take it down on my new rubi.

That's what I figured, but thanks for the info. I guess I will just turn the radio up or put the top down if the stealership cannot find the issue.
