Default rattle at low throttle and tranny in neutral

So I noticed with me 6 spd in neutral when I gently blip the throttle the initial first 500rpms there's a slight rattle. Anyone else experience this or have an idea as to what it is. I figured drivehsaft but it only occurs in N

Mine does the same thing. From what I've read and been told it is just the design of the transmission and is normal. They are a very sturdy but noisy design. If you are used to tight, quiet manual transmisions this is not one of them.

im at just under 30,000 and noticed it yesterday. i blip the throttle and for a quick second hear a small rattle type noise. i thought maybe it was a part of a gear cause i did misshift once going into 6th and hit R.

The 6 spds are crap.. Mine has been problematic since day 1.. I've talked to lots of folks with the same issues.. Noisy, vibrate and kick out of gear..

My 6-speed has kicked out of first a few times but I still love it to death. A true jeep is a manual and it's fun as hell to drive plus adds a little challenge while on the trails

Mine has had this noise for as long as I can remember...it does get a little worse as miles tick away...its most likely your clutches throw out bearing, they're known for being noisy or just crapping out all together. I have 79k on mine and I hear the noise in neutral all the time...in between shifts..and when I lug the motor in low rpm..even though its noisy its still runs and shifts fine...I'm just saving $ for an entire clutch/bearings replacement. Mine is an 07 with no warranty, if you still have warranty I would have it looked at, but if not I would just keep an ear on it but you will probably see it get a lot worse over time...letting you know when its really time for replacement...just my.02 as a broke guy!

That sucks man..I've heard of folks having all those issues plus bad syncros, and even breaking the shifter itself...if it makes you feel better the autos can just crap out from bigger tires and almost need an upgraded Cooler right from the factory, and I'm not positive but I thought that was one reason for some folks have fires...they both have there downfalls.

This is also just my opinion.

It is the throwout bearing. I have it and so do most jk manual owners at some point. You will prob also develop a high pitched squeak when you first push on the gas after changing gears first through 3rd. It is caused by incorrect preload set on the pressure plate. These are known problems in the 6 speeds. Will not cause any probs just make noise.

It could also be aftermarket parts. Since the low RPMs aren't hit at higher speeds you won't notice it, plus you're moving which makes hearing harder. Anyhow at certain RPMs I have different parts that rattle. Had one that was really bugging me because I couldn't locate it, finally parked just right and it was going while in neutral, got out and it was my aftermarket exhaust. The metal exhaust hanger sticks through the rubber isolator farther than the OEM one did and this caused it to just barely tap the frame. Also at certain times one of my front D-rings would rattle, just tightened it down and no problem.

So what I'm saying is that there are any number of potential issues. Could be the clutch, could be something else. Could even be something as simple as a couple items in your glove box bouncing around.
