Question Roll bar covers.

It would seem to me that they'd get faded and discolored from the sun and rain. How tough are they?

I have found that the sun does seem to wear on them but it's the dust that makes em' look awful.

I got them REALLY muddy a month or so ago and ripped them off to go in the washer. I set it on delicate. They came out a slight shade lighter black. Also the foam lining inside didnt hold up perfectly.
Theres a few spots where they are missing foamy bits

I didn't realize they are that easy to remove, but I never really examined them either. If I ever take the roof off, maybe I'll just take them off as well.

Most of the roll bar is not painted.

the roll bar is just painted, there is no clear over it so it looks like ass. I think it would be wise to leave them on and not look like you have a cheap paint job from jeep.

Thanks to a few other distractions, I haven't had the chance to get mine back to the dealer for this but will this next week.

The fabric on mine now appears to be a khaki color - it has faded that much in just over 3 months! Yes our top in down almost 95% of the time and yes we have a bunch of sun.

There are a couple of other threads on this but I'll let you know what the dealer tells me by early next week (make that next month)!

I use 303 High Tech Fabric Guard: http://www.303products.com/tech/inde...TOKEN=77831756. My top is down most of the time (over 80%). The roll bar covers get decent amount of sun, rain, dust, mud splash etc., but they haven't faded yet.

I use 303 Aerospace Protectant for plastic and rubber parts also; fenders, interior plastic, soft top, vinyl windows etc.

I apply 303 twice a month or so. So far no fade on fabric or plastic. No crack on rubber parts (above the windshield etc. from the sun).

Well, it's been only about 4 months since I got my JK. I don't know how 303 products protect from UV, rain, dust and other elements over the long run.

Mine has pretty much been drenched in 303 - everything but the engine!

The top looks great but the rollbars are another story.

...here ya go...this was taken without a flash so there is no distortion in the lighting - the black is from the top bar and the top is up to make certain no other light is shining on the fabric...
