Rubi 32s on Sport S with 3.21 Axle-extra strain on Pentastar?
I may be totally retarded...but I'm wondering if this Rear Axle ratio would put a strain on the already "Touchy" Pentastar. Just wondering if it would be wise to re-gear to 3.73.
I bought the car from the dealer inventory, so I didn't have any say on the options. If I could, I would have gotten 3.73.
How much of an impact would this really have on the motor strain at lower gear, since the torque seems to peak at higher RPM on this engine?
Cheers!

I have been looking up and wondering the same thing. Will the weight difference of the new tires affect the axles that much?
Most answers seem to say it will be fine. I guess the cut off is around 34's and 35's. But i still worry about something happening and voiding the warranty.

The torque is actually pretty constant across the RPM's and kicks in low enough. The HP is what peaks late.

Good graph!
I hadn't seen that...
the initial torque below 1000 RPM is the only part where the 3.8 overtakes the Penta...

I just did this exact same thing this very morning! Discount Tire hooked up the BFG MTs (like a stick Rubi) in place of my stock SRAs. I have 3.21s (settled b/c Jeep was on the lot and had half doors!).
Only driven it 25 miles, but doesn't feel any different other than what you'd expect between a road tire and an MT.
It looks killer! And just the right set up for my off road needs.
