I will find out whats going on after work today. It has 34,000 miles on it. I live on a dirt road thats washboarded all the time. I live in the country. I am pretty sure it sint my tranny or torque converter now. I can put it in nuetral and roll at speed, and the vibration doesnt change. I can shift it to 2, and at lower speeds, into 1, man ive shifted it all over and the vibration stays steady and consistent as if it could give a damn what my tranny is doing. I was looking under it just now during lunch, it has to be a DS, or possibly a axle shaft u-joint. I noticed also at lunch that it has a slight pull to the right that I didnt notice before. Makes me think axle shaft u joint. I drove it in colorado on some trailes near estes park, into creeks and such, maybe i doomed myself by doing that.

If you drive in water any parts you replace make sure they have grease fittings so you can flush the contaminated grease out with fresh clean grease and they will last much longer.

Well it gets worse guys. Im not sure if this is causing my vibration but it very well could be. I had the engine idling while i was just stooping along the edge of the jeep looking around and i hear very pronounced knocking from the engine. I sit back in the jeep and close the door. Quietly i raise the rpm and the knocking gets louder and follows engine speed. It also idles rough now. It has 34,500 miles on it. I have an appt with the dealer tommorow. I am thinking that my 3.8 is near toast. Ive heard knocking before and it is definatley doing it. If they tell me they find nothing. Ill drive it till it throws a rod. If they acknowledge it but say that they wont cover it for any reason, ill fight it to a point. But why put a new 3.8 in if it too.... May go bad, after warranty expires. I half ass have my wife talked into a hemi swap, IF tjis motor does go tits up. But my question is. Horsepower aside, is the hemi more reliable, or is it also cursed with the chrysler quality curse. I think a jeep speed shop kit and motor / tranny will be $7-8k i dont want to spend that much and then have tranny problems from the hemi tranny and crap like that. Is it really that much better..... Horsepower aside?

He said he thinks it is the motor now cause its knocking and won't idle smooth, so now he is leaning towards the engine causing the vibration.

Ok thanks. I will make sure its full. I imagine i will get the " cannot reproduce problem" garbage. I have the ok from the wife to drive it till a rod goes through the hood if so. I am pretty damn sure that the thing is knocking now. I got my ear real close to the oil pan while it was idling and listened, and its a hollow knock, knock, knock. While its there i will tell them to tsb flash my tranny recall thingy incase its ok, and replace my ball joints. Although i bet they decline because of the lift and 34" toyo mt's. We will see. There is a chance there is a hemi in my near future. In reality, i just want it fixed.

I would go with a GM V8 motor swap like a 5.3 or 6.0 and save some money. The Hemi route is an expensive route to go from what I have read and heard. Just an idea to look into or option to think about.
