Hell, the way these things are built there are enough problems with them just driving them to and from work, lol.
that's a brave statement to make here, but i agree with you. maybe these people make more money than i do, but i can't afford to beat up a $30,000 vehicle.

i'd buy a $3500 YJ if i wanted a trail rider.

The problems with mine have been non-mechainical problems, knock on wood.

I'm just saying, I cant afford to take mine wheeling on the weekends, have something major break, and then have to find a way to work until its fixed. Something i dont wanna deal with.

I really don't understand your statement. Wheel it on the weekends, drive it to work thru the week. Maybe yours is having problems because it is sick of being stuck on the pavement

i hear ya, and I wasnt trying to start trouble with my post. I'd love to do some minor off roading, and probably will eventually.

I've learned that you can wheel on the weekends, and still get to work. You just need to know what your limits are, and don't let your buddies talk you into doing something beyond your limits. Wheeling is a lot of fun, and you can still have that fun without pushing your luck and breaking things. I have a group of guys I wheel with- some are much braver than me, and some of the others aren't brave enough to do the things I do. We all have our limitations- and we all know what each other will/won't do... And we all drive to work on Monday... Well, except for some of the crazier ones that break stuff every time.

x2, I take my jeep offroad every chance I get, but I don't have a scratch or dent, or anything leaking messed up. It is just a matter of knowing your limits, and I don't have to use 100% of the jeep to get a thrill. I would say I usually wheel/mud at about 70% tops. I drive my jeep everyday for work, about 1000 miles a week so I can't afford to break it and haven't come close yet.

To OOP, my opinion is that the sahara is not for most people, the only reason I could see anyone getting one is if they like the look of the painted fenders, (bad idea offroad,) side steps, (bad idea offroad,) extra trim inside and out, and the 18" wheels,(questionable idea offroad?) But if that is what you like, whatever, they are still plenty capable, just have things I don't care for on them.

I love my X! (wow that sounds weird) I like being rough on my stuff. The saraha is very pretty, but i would be hesitant to have too much fun in it.

I dont think the bigger tires, fog lights & cruise control add all that weight??!!!

I would go with the X.....I think the fenders are cheaper to replace.

If the guy doesn't want to off road his vehicle thats his prerogative. He's still welcome here and his opinion is appreciated.
