Question Sahara Vs X

I'm planing to buy a manual 2 door 08 Wrangler, but I dont know which 1 to go for, Sahara or X?? One thing I dont understand is the big difference in curb weight between the 2 trims. 3782 lbs for X & 3962 for Sahara, thats 180lbs !! I dont think the bigger tires, fog lights & cruise control add all that weight??!!!

power windows / locks; bigger wheels / tires. i think that puts u up the 180# easily.

The side steps probably weight about 60 lbs.

I don't know what the tire weight difference might be, but there are 5 of them.

4 sets of door electrics, etc.

Maybe the paint on the fenders is REALLY thick.

If you can't afford a Rubi (most of us couldn't), I'd get the X. I didn't want the painted fenders of the Sahara. The black ones would be easier to replace (or paint with bed liner) if you ding/scratch them.

Also, the sidesteps of the Sahara are nice looking, but will not protect your rockers.

the steps are pretty light but they're only good for taking up space in the garage after youve replaced them.

Any idea about wheel weights? 16 inch steel vs 17 alloy?

Mark's feeling on this:

Rubicon: If you're a hard rock crawler.

Sahara: Off-roading/rock crawling is more at the mall than at Moab. You want a few comforts for you and the misses. You like to be pampered.

X: You can't afford any better. But it's not over. It's almost a blank canvas. You can build a heck of a crawler/off-road vehicle. Or a mall crawler. And, if you bang up those plastic fenders, you won't worry about a little scratched paint.

If you like the Sahara, get it. Not everyone who buys a Jeep takes it off roading. Personally, I cant see taking a $26-$36k vehicle off road and risking major damage to a vehicle that I need to drive back and forth to work. Hell, the way these things are built there are enough problems with them just driving them to and from work, lol.
