I thought i was the only one out there with this probem. Mines been goin for 2000 miles now. It is happenin when i get of the highway. Of course the dealer didnt hear anything, and when i took a mech. out for a drive, no noise. They then look at me like I'm a idiot. Well any new info/resolutions would be awesome.

Default Problem Solved!!!!

TSB#: 03-003-07 solved my problem

The sound was similar to a wear indicator for disk brakes. This TSB involves the pinion gear seal and related parts.

Do you have the details for the TSB? I can seem to find it.

I will be bringing in my JK next week. I just got back from a long trip (chicago to flordia), and during an oil change, they notices the right axel seal is leaking...I am assuming the light grinding noise that most of us have, lead to the leak/damage...

I posted to soon, looks like the TSB just got posted on this site. I don't see a reference to a specfic axel type, so it must be all. I plan to call the dealer tomorrow to make sure they know about this.

Default Tsb

I just came across this TSB as well. I bought my Jeep April 28th (April 07 build) and it has been doing this since May/June off an on. As others have mentioned it is only apparent after driving at highway speeds for a period of time.

I currently have my Jeep scheduled to go in for two TSBs this coming Monday -- the long crank time and this squeal. Hopefully this will fix both problems. The long crank just started recently and its pissing me off that my brand new Jeep sometimes starts like an 87 honda civic. Annoying. The rogue squeak comes and goes. Other than those two annoyances, my Jeep has been pretty solid with just under 8k on the clock.

I talked to my dealer today, who has had my jeep a few days. The confirmed the problem, and got the parts today. Hopefully I will get it back tomorrow. They also ordered all new weather stripping for the soft-top, and did the G40 TSB.

I hope this is this is for a while...

The best way to hear it is drive around for a couple miles get everything warmed up. Then roll down all your windows and drive under a rail road bridge or tunnel or through a bank drive thou. Anything with walls. Do not stop just coast through at 5mph.If you have the problem then you will hear it. Try to do it where there are no cars or other ambient noise. Mine is bad enough i can hear it just going down the road.
I have a two door Rubi and it just recently started to get a faint squeal exactly as you describe yours. It doesn't do it all the time yet though. It'll be silent from speeds 0-35ish. Around 35-40 it'll start to faintly squeak at all speeds till I park it for some time.
