Steaming Pissed and need advice
So I took my 2dr X in to the dealer for the incorrect pre load on the clutch throw out bearing, and an illuminated low oil pressure light about a week ago. They went ahead and did the warranty work on both problems which took a week. Now I have the original problem plus three more with the transmission. 1)The throw out bearing is squeaking again, I've gone through the steps to make sure that's what it is again. 2) Every forward gear I. E. 1,3,5 are very tight and feel very notchy going into gear 3) 1st gear every morning without fail will pop into neutral with the clutch disengaged 4) There's much more transmission noise than before, is there any sound deadening material on top of the transmission? My real question is do I have grounds to demand a new transmission, has it already caused damage? Because I'm ready too. Also when I asked about a courtesy car after I stopped by to explain one of the problems (after they had fixed it) they told me that the basic warranty with there insurance doesn't cover a courtesy car is this Bull$&*#, or the truth? I kinda need ya'll advice because I'm ready to pop a gasket.

If you're dealing with a dealership that is going to keep your car longer than 1 day, you should get a courtesy car, that's just good customer service. If you are dealing with a dealer that refuses to do this, it's a shit dealer and you should have no hesitation or hard feelings about loudly making your disatisfaction known for others to hear. Then call Chrysler about it as well. Make sure they know you're going to call Chrysler.
These damned domestic auto dealers will never learn to treat customers right until we force them to apparently. With respect to the transmission, it sounds to me like they had some moron wrenching on it. My suggestion would be to take it to another dealer (if feasible) and explain to them in no uncertain terms how very dissappointed you are in the other dealer and you hope this dealer can handle things properly because you are a paying customer who would like to come back and buy other Jeep products if you can get good service.
I HATE CAR DEALERS!!!!!
Ok, sorry, carry on.

Get in line.
I have NEVER had ANY jeep dealership work performed and felt like they did me right (JK, TJ).
It is always something.
Your xtra noise is most likely the secondary shift boot. Mine was not even attached and the transmission was loud as a result. Pop off your top boot and snap the secondary boot in place. That should limit the noise
Sorry dude, I feel your pain.
My "clutch bearing/clutch disc fiasco part duex" is next week.
I'll toast one on your behalf!.....MO-FOs

yeah me too! i had mine in at 1400 miles for the clutch. yeah i was wheelin it and doing rock gardens. so they put in a new clutch and throw out bearing. covered under warranty. so i drove it for awhile and one of the guys at work said i couldn t do a burn out well i tried to show him, revved it to 3500 to 4000 rpms and dropped teh clutch, bang! popped out of gear! i though i broke a axle. then it started to do it more and more. 1,3, and 5. especially when it is cold! so it has been ok for awhile, but this saturday i took it wheelin for the 2nd time and did the same rock garden i did before when it started. clutch smelled hot but didn t squel. it started later on in the day.
the service manager told me last time everything would be covered as long as there was no mud. well it started about lunch time on saturday and of course when another fellow jeeper (especailly the female trail guide) puts you up to a 3 ft deep mud hole you gotta do it
! well i should have said no i need to get my clutch fixed but i did it. i pressure wash it twice now and really good. there was no real mud on the tranny but i always worry. it now has 2060 miles on it and let me tell you what. after watching the "trail rated" movie on jeep.com, THEY BETTER F-ING COVER IT! first i am gonna rub the trail rated badge in there face, then threaten to call DC, then i have a lawyer whos is paid and ready and willing to do what ever i tell her. so it goes in on the 24th. i ll keep you posted, but i expect not to have it for a week again.

Dealer Mechanic forgot to put the insulating ring and primary boot in place.....
Lift up your boot bezel on the console side ( farthest from dash) and to give you room to work pull up on the shift handle to remove and remove the shift boot completely
Then lift the primary boot (which is prolly just floating around ) up the shift shaft so you can push the insulation ring down into the hole
To install the primary boot (the one you can't see while driving cause it is under the secondary boot ) slide the dash side in and push down on the console side ( just snaps in )
To install secondary boot ( the one you see while driving )slide the dash side in and push down on the console side ( just snaps in also )
No more noise and no more slipping out of gear !!! Whole process takes MAX 10 minutes !!
GOOD LUCK !!!! And Happy Jeepin

Hey Hulk,
That post really caught my eye. My friend picked up a used 2 DR JK X 07 with 7k miles.
She quickly noticed that 1, 3 and 5 all pop back into neutral when the clutch is in. It was partiularly cold here in Utah last week. This week the temp came up quite a bit and it hasn't happened and I drove it for a bit tonight and I didn't have it happen to me.
2 questions:
1. Is your post in response to resolving the root cause of the gears popping out or a secondary fix after the mechanics performed work? I just want to be clear on this before I investigate the boots on her jeep.
2. Is the gear slipage seemingly occurring due to colder weather only or is it more rampent and should I have her get the jeep to the dealer? It's still under warranty just so you know.
Thanks,
Aaron
