Default Stock fender replacement...how much do you think?

I need to replace my driver's side rear fender on my Sahara. Any idea on what this will cost? I'm completely aggravated....

went to the bank drive through, asked for a deposit slip....the teller put the deposit slip in the drawer....I take deposit slip, close my window and drive off. Only the bank teller didnt CLOSE the drawer? It caught my fender and ripped the shit out of it. It has to be replaced.

Bank's insurance company sends out adjuster to look at it and he agrees that it needs to be replaced. I get an estimate from him via email saying the repair/replacement will cost $166. Seems WAY LOW to me. To add insult to injury, I get letter in mail from their insurance company saying they will only pay 50% of this amount.

So, I actually have two questions...first, what do you think this is going to run? I cant see $166 to replace the part. Second, Im going to get another quote, probably at my dealer. If the quote comes out significantly higher, will the insurance company readjust what they are paying?

If I have to take 50% of the repair cost so be it. I feel that it was NOT my fault because the teller should not have left the drawer extended in the drive through lane, regardless if he thought I was going to complete a transaction or not. But hey, Im an honest guy and maybe I should have looked.

Thanks for any input.

Screw the fender, get some rock rails and run it across that drawer next time.

Seriously, did it just pop it off, scuff it up, what exactly?

In addition, if you retrieved your slip, your done unless you asked for something else. It isn't their job to THINK you were going to do another transaction, it was done, the drawer shoulda been pulled in.

$166 bucks sounds about right. The painted plastic flair is about $90 ($65 for black) and $1.50 for each of the plastic rivets. Balance for labor....

Just get it done....

Next time, look before you drive away...

My regards,

Widewing

its still on but split it in half on one side and gashed the other. i know, I should post a pic. Maybe this is an excuse to swap out the flares entirely!

Well said. It's just a pain in the ass to deal with this crap. If I want to fight their decision I have to write to the state insurance department, etc etc. If the repair is going to be what they said, it's not worth the aggravation.

thanks. do you know if the sahara flares come painted or do they have to paint? If the flair runs $90 and needs to be painted and installed, does the $166 sound in the ballpark? I need to get it fixed...nice battle scar on the new JK but NOT from wheeling...from the damn bank drive through!

they do not come painted.. your going to pay ~$200 for paint, plus the flare and rivets/clips

I ruined a front passenger flare on my JK.. I was quoted $650 parts, labor, paint.. FOR ONE FLARE. thats why I went xenon.

What color/body style is your JK? I live in Suffolk and have a set of IMMACULATE SILVER flares for a 4dr.

What bank did this happen at? I assume your from Suffolk County.
On another note, Just take the money and put flares on. The little bit of money you may be able to squeeze out of them will not be worth the fight.
