stock rear license plate holder ... only two screws holding the plate on? Why?
To remove the tail light... all one has to do is to unscrew the other two screws that are more towards the tailgate. Then pull.
The wedge has a tab/lip on it that you stick in the outer side of tail light hole. It kind of wedges in there and provides tension when you screw in the other two screws that actually go into the jeep's corner body panel.
edit: I have been trying to find a pic online, but this is the best I can do...
You can see that there are only two screw-holes on the body of this pic. The other side just wedges in on the outer side.
I got that pic from here... http://www.jeepfan.com/projects/cool...antenna-mount/
...and it says in the instructions on that page ... "Remove the 2 inner screws that hold the tail light on, remove the tail light."
Your wrangler is probably different than mine.

"Officer, I just received this replacement plate yesterday cuz a few weeks ago my front license plate was the perfect victim to get "plate-napped". It was my fault tho officer, I only used two Phillips head screws to secure the plate instead of four. I could have prevented this tragedy if I had only used 2 more screws and trick the thieves by using flat head screws instead of having all four screws the same, requiring only 1 simple tool to remove them.....shame on me....shame on me."
I know how the to remove the tail lights. As you can see, I had to remove them in order to install my evo corner armor and the 4" round led taillights. Plus I had to junk that piece of crap license plate holder, then relocate my license plate to the center of my ATX SLAB beadlock wheel with 2 very large grade 5 bolts. I will not tell you what size socket is used to remove them cuz I dont want someone to steal my license plate. First there's murders, rape, school shootings, bombings and now "plate-napping"....oh the humanity, what is this world coming to.
Ya I most likely did but since I found it in the jeep, I can always show the officer that I have it.

Just bend the plate a little bit and use a screwdriver to get it under the two tabs on the right. Is it really that hard?
Also, shift worry from stealing tail lamp lenses and bulbs with the fact that the JK has no interior hood release. Any stranger can walk up and steal your battery or dump sand in your oil filler tub in mere seconds.
