stock rear license plate holder ... only two screws holding the plate on? Why?
We have the same 2 laws in.California too but I dont drive a car, I drive a big lifted jeep and haven't had a problem yet. Also my jeep doesn't have mud flaps, fenders that only cover 1/3 of the tires and no reverse lights, 2 foot long.cracks in the windshield and im running true beadlock wheels.

To all the people joking about plates getting stolen it actually happened to me once...
I'll try and make this story as short as possible, haha.
Got a call one day from the local police asking me if I could come remove my vehicle from the parking lot that it was sitting in. I was home at the time and I said to them that my vehicle was sitting in the driveway and it wasn't in the parking lot like they were telling me it was. We were both confused and they just let it go and we went on with our days.
Fast forward a few weeks. Myself and my friends were in my car going back to one of their houses when I was pulled over. The officer came up to my window and asked for my information and such so I gave it to him. Then he asked me if I had any weapons on me. I didn't and I asked him why he asked me this ( I didn't think this was standard ). And he told me that he didn't know who I was and he just wanted to know. After this he asked me to step out of the car and walk to the back where he could pat me for potential weapons and whatnot.
I was beyond confused since I thought I was just getting pulled over for speeding or a light out or who knows what. As he's patting me down, he tells me the car I was driving had been reported stolen. And obviously since I was the one driving it I was the one who had stole it ( also at this time backup had showed up ). I explained to him that it was not stolen and that it was my car and all the registration would match and everything. So he kinda believe me and checks everything out, and guess what...it all matches except the plate number.
So what had happened was my plates were stolen and swapped out with plates from a stolen car. So it made my car look stolen, and it made the car that was stolen look legal.
Obviously they were similar cars, mine was a white Chevy Cavalier and the stolen car was a white Pontiac Sunfire.
So they confiscated my plates and I had to drive home immediately and park the car until I was able to go buy new plates. They wanted to tow the car since you can't legally drive without plates but I talked them out of that.
And then it all made sense why I received a phone call asking me to move my car from that parking lot. Because it was a similar car that had my plates on it...
So moral of the story...it can happen!
