Default Stock Skidplate Removal

I was wondering whether that plastic skidplate (if that's what you call it) serves any purpose. I do light wheeling just few times a year. I'm not even sure if the thing is strong enough to protect against anything. Is it okay to remove it? What issues have people had after it's removal? I've seen plenty of pics with after market bumpers, but does anyone have any pics of their Rig with the stock bumper but not that skidplate? Thanks!

It's nothing more than an air dam. It's the first thing to take off. It's just attached with some clips so just pry it off.

The Air Dam. It's designed to give our JK's +.1 MPG's.

Many people lose their Air Dam's when off-roading.

I just happened to take mine off this past weekend. The front end looks much better, and the gas savings is minimal with it. Rip it off! You won't regret it.

I found a fun way to remove mine. Back up through a deep puddle with a little speed and the water will remove it for you, thats what I did. And I agree it does look better without it!
