The power-lock no longer consistently works on my tailgate.

It takes a few clicks of the remote back and forth to get it to toggle between locked and unlocked, and that doesn't always work.

The key still works fine. I took off the vent cover and the electrical looks like its all hooked up. The dash display still recognizes when the gate is open.

Any ideas? WD40?

 

I would think some WD-40 would help on the mechanism if you can get to it, and perhaps pull the plug on the actuator and hit it with some contact cleaner. Let us know what works.

 

There is a recall/repair out for the locking mech on doors of the JKU.

In my case, pressing the "LOCK" button on the key fob resulted in a machine gun like "ratcheting" sound from the lock, and the door would not lock.

They've already fixed my tailgate door and the passenger side rear door.

May want to check into it....

This was on my 2010 rig that was less than 6 months old.

 

Have you changed the batteries in the key fob? That may be your issue. Happened to me with one of my previouse vehicles.

 

Aside from this stupid issue, the power locks/windows are pretty convenient!

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not the remote. This issue happens when you use the interior lock toggle switch as well. Plus, the other locks all work fine, just the tailgate has a problem.


Any more info on that? I can't seem to find any TSBs or recalls on the issue. Plus my warranty is looooong gone...

Mine just stopped working also, key works fine, dash says gate when the gates open and even when i unlock the doors using the button on the drives door still nothing? i called jeep its like $60 for a new power lock. ive just been using the key.

 

The dealer replaced my rear lock (electric) under warranty. It would only unlock with the key in cylinder not by the remote
