Default Thump under JK

Fellow Jeepers, I need some help. I have 29k on 2010 JKU. The other I noticed that when I back out and then put into Drive and start moving forward I get a loud thump. Can anyone chime in if you have an idea or know? I do my own maintenance but this has me mind boggled. Thanks in advance.

I get the same sound when I go from reverse into forward. I'm pretty sure it's just the tranny engaging. When was the last time you changed the fluid or had it checked out?

That's exactly when I hear it. I'm doing that this weekend.

It's your Jeep. You don't know if it's lifted?

Do you use your e-brake when you park?

I used to get a loud 'snap' or pop from the rear of the JK when I'd first start to move forward, after backing up. The e-brake mechanism was binding in the drum. WD40 took care of that.

There are a lot of other things it could be...

It's definitely a normal function. My 07' Sahara did the same thing right off the showroom floor. When I shift into Drive or Reverse and move, a big KER-CLUNK sound would occur. However, my 12' JKU WHISTLES instead of KER-CLUNKs.
