Default TPMS breakage

So this past weekend my wife and I went on a poker run. It was a blast and the stock JK really held up well with a ton of TJ's with lifts. However, when I went to air up my tires my TPMS would not shut off. A trip to the local Discount Tire and the answer I got was take the JK into the dealership since I'm under warranty. An hour later and I found out one of my sensors is broken and it's not at the valve stem. I think it'll be interesting to see if the actual sensor is busted from possible impact or if all the bumping around caused the sensor to fail. Anyone else bust a sensor because their tires were aired down???

I had the same problem with the Whipsaw run this weekend and posted a thread for any solution to the stupid TPMS light yesterday. I tried unhooking the battery and left it sit for over an hour and hooked up....NO WORKY....still see this (_!_).

I think I broke a sensor or two OR all 4 ....not sure how they would test each sensor to see which one is broken???? I was aired down to 15psi on my 33x12.50R17 Cooper STT's. Talking with a buddy he figures I should have only aired down to 20 PSI. I am sure they will not be covered under warranty from off-roading and airing down.

At the dealership they pull each tire off and put them on some machine that picks up the signal sent from the sensor, which is how they knew only one of mine needs to be replaced. They are under the three year warranty because they are not technically wearable items, or at least that's what the head of service told me.

Do what I do when I break something. Clean it real good to get rid of as much "evidence" and claim ignorance when you go to the dealership.

Good to know...I will take it into Jeep for some warranty work...Softop leak and my sensor light. My sensors are aftermarket so I may be SOL on warranty.

if you have any patches in the tire they will not cover it under warranty. they should have a little hand held device that will re-train each sensor, and they one that does not respond in the broken one. thats how i did it when i worked at ford. a word of advice, raise enough hell and they should cover it

I've had TPMS gremlins too. I'll air down, wheel, air up and drive home with the TPMS indicator blazin. It will go off sometimes on the way home, sometimes the next day on the way to work. Hell the other day I was going down the interstate doing 80 and out of the bule, the damn thing went off. I thought I had picked up a nail or something and was about to have a major blowout so I deedeemow to the shoulder, get out and check em. All 5 tires are good to go TPMS light stayed on for another day and a half then mysteriously went out.
