Just had this happen to me. 50000 km on my 08 rubi unlimited and the 4" superlift. I hit the brakes for a stop sign and the jeep pulled violently to the left... As if the right front caliper didn't grab at all. Then there was a "ding" and all the lights came on (ESP/BAS ABS) The jeep still drives fine just has the idiot lights on. I'm guessing it's going to be the wheel speed sensor after reading this thread. The question is which one? Guess I'll have to have a shop plug it in and tell me.

Mine ended up being my wheel bearing. It was out of wack enough to throw the codes. The bearing came with the sensor!

For giggles did you check your brake fluid?

I've lost a wheel speed sensor on my pickup after squirrels chewed through the wires. It probably pays to check out the wires before ordering a new sensor but maybe you already did that.

Just did the brakes last weekend so the fluid is fine. I probably knocked something or got some brake cleaner on the sensor.

I visually inspected when I did the brake job so it's probably not wires.

Took me over 2 weeks to get my rear speed sensor in at the auto parts store. Should have just went to the dealer.

Any quick tips on removing the old one?

I bought mine at the dealer, cost $48. Insure the wait was worth it. I did the front right. I just grabed it with a pair of channel lock pliers and twisted back and forth as I pulled up, came right out.

Swing it by an auto store to run the codes. It will at least tell you what wheel has the potentially bad sensor.

FInally got the rear sensor yesterday. Just replaced it. Like others have mentioned...you don't need to take the wheel off for the rear. Use a 8mm socket to remove the small bolt holding in the sensor. I had to use a short extension on the socket to get around the brake lines or whatever the hell was in the way of the sensor.

I had trouble sliding back the red locking tab on the wiring harness. Had to get a small flathead screwdriver to push the red tab straight back (sliding away from the sensor). Then I was able to unplug the harness (I think I had to push down on the black tab on the top of the sensor while sliding it off).

Then I just pulled the sensor out (it came out by hand, no pliers needed). I stuck the new one back in (make sure the bolt hole is lined up where it needs to be). Then put the 8mm bolt back in fairly snug (I wouldn't go too tight since the piece is plastic). Then plug the harness back in and slide the red locking tab back towards the sensor/wheel.

I drove out of my driveway and got about 75 yards when all 3 warning lights went off!

I drove a few more miles just to make sure they didn't come back on. Whole thing took less than 15 minutes and 5 of that was messing with the red locking tab.

I'll take any small victory over the dealership!

OK... So I bought a OBDII code reader... NO CODES

I have the ESP kill switch mod done on my rig. It's been working fine for almost a year but I took it all apart just to make sure. All solder joints were redone and re shrink wrapped. Also checked the switch. Still having the issue.

I have a feeling its the wheel sensor but how do I figure out which one it is without a code?!?

The ESP pulls the jeep to the left and pulses the ABS every time you touch the brakes with the ESP engaged. I can drive the jeep fine with the kill switch thrown.

Any ideas?
