Yep - failed water pump. To make matters worse, no dealer in the entire North Texas area, including the Jeep regional warehouse, had any water pumps in stock. So we had to special order/special deliver one from Detroit. Hopefully, it will arrive tomorrow (January 2) and be installed without any problems.

Dealer said this is the first time he had had to deal with a failed water pump on a JK.

My observation - lack of parts availability is likely associated with Chrysler/Jeep's financial situation. I only hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
I saw the same red liquid on my garage floor and was told by the dealer it was the seal around the water pump... The service statement shows they replaced the pump. I only had 15000 miles on my unlimited at the time. my dealer said they have seen this on other Jeeps (I think it was a patriot?) but not on any wranglers until mine.

10K miles, and I just spotted the drips on my garage floor and a nice dark orange trail running down the front on the engine....

sounds like a trip to the dealer.
