Also, any 2"-2.5" budget boost or coil kit would be perfect for running 33's...but you don't HAVE to have a lift to run 33's, it just looks better and will perform better off-road obviously.

Here is mine....2.5" Rough Country Coil kit and 33x11.50x16 tires on Cragar Soft 8's with 5" backspacing:
Nice.

I think I'm starting to get it. My 17 x 7.5 have 6.5 inches of back spacing. Not a big deal because they are stock..

Go to 17 x 8 or 17 x 9, and it gets to be a bigger deal... too much backspacing, I stick out... too little, I rub.

You can run 33's on the 8 inch rims, but need less backspacing. but if I accidently buy (unlikely now) rims with too little backspacing, I can fix it with spacers...

Now, if I want to lift it (just with a body lift, although new coils might be nice), I may need to level it. If I level it, I will end up looking good, until I buy that new bumper and winch... but I can reduce the level in the back or increase the level in the front..

wheel rubbing, bad.

What is good to buy to give the slightly agreesive profile without the lift... (lifting later say)?

Ummm. I think you have it backwards. Look at the post above your last one. 4" backspace had the tires sticking out of the fenders. He increased backspase to 5" to bring the tires back into and under the fenders.

I'd say go for some new wheels in whatever size you like (16's are cheaper for tires and wheels, but 17's are good too) with the proper backspacing between 4" - 5" (that's most likely what you're gonna find anyway)....and some new tires in something like a:

285/70R17 = 33x11.50
305/65R17 = 33x12.50

285/75R16 = 33x11.50
305/70R16 = 33x12.50

That would give you a more aggressive look, better performance offroad, and probably a better on road ride as well...just keep in mind that if you do decide to do some wheeling before you do the lift, then you may not be able to disconnect your sway bar without rubbing just a bit.

Here's a couple pics I found....you can get an idea of what a difference just wheels and tires can make..

33x11.50x16, no lift, 5" backspacing on 16x8 wheels

33x12.50x17, no lift, 4.5" backspacing on 17x8 wheels

I Have a good grasp on backspacinge BUT:

The rims I want to get are available for my app in two sizes

17x8 offset +18mm

and

17x9 offset -12mm

What the?
Please please help, this is stoping me from ordering cause I dont want to get the wrong ones
285/70/17 Duratrac Wranglers will be the shoes
I would like most of the tire under the flare, not sticking out 3 inches
I found a company that doesnt have spys on back order for 2 months / stated in stock!!

I am in the same boat just today changed my mind from using stock rims with spacers to go with new wheels and tire combo.

I dont think there is much difference in the 17x8 or 17x9 other than size they will both work, the offset I dont know. Im waiting to hear from those who know.

Here is what I have picked out so far:

Wrangler Duratrac LT285/70R17
Pro Comm 7189 17x8, 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern, Backspace = 4.5 in. Offset = 0mm
2" Daystar Spacer Lift
No Wheel Spacers

I dont mind if the tire is out of the flare slighty, just not too much, thats the look I want.

Anyone see anything wrong with this setup please let me know!

It's all good. Nothing wrong about your mods, other than you should get a Teraflex BB instead of the Daystar. They won't flare out much either. Duratracs are a good A/T tire too.

For Goose0077, I could be wrong with this, actually I think I am, but I believe offset just affects the appearance of the wheel, or how far the center of the wheel goes in or out. You'll be fine with either one, 17x9 will stick out more than the 17x8. Not sure though, sorry if I couldn't help much. Just wait and someone more experienced will chime in

I just posted this in reply to anouther post.

http://www.1000rims.com/rt_specs.jsp

Its a great site to compare wheel set-ups. Shows everything that changes when you change the tire/wheel combo.

Same disclamer: not sure if it is ok to link to, if its a problem, please let me know.!

Ok that site is awsome find THANKS!

Hmmm Just comparing the two I may like the 17X9 for a fatter tire look.. NO Im wrong looks like only effect the rim size, tire width will remain the same but due to rim according to this it would stuck out off the flare
.5 inch farther than the 17x8. Interesting stuff nice tool.

Thanks! On the Teraflex BB does that require new shocks? I see kits with and without shocks but Im not sure if I can use the stock shocks with the Teraflex BB stuff. I know the Daystar does not need new shocks. I just want to give it a slight lift for it to look better not so much for off road performance. I have not really made of my mind lift wise where I want to go, but I need the wheels and tires badly and Im at my budget limit right now.
